Capernaum

Producers are building a full-size recreation of first-century Capernaum, the town where Peter lived and where Jesus worshipped in the local synagogue, along with a 30,000-square-foot soundstage.

Labaki, whose last film as a director, “Capernaum,” received an Oscar nomination in 2019, excels in a slow-burn performance teeming with restrained anxiety.

Selections include “Capernaum,” ”Yomeddine,” ”Sofia,” and “Dunya’s Day.”

Lebanese director and actor Nadine Labaki, whose film “Capernaum” won the Grand Jury Prize in Cannes’ main competition last year, headed up the Un Certain jury.
