Havering Council has said its health and safety team had provided "detailed advice to the academy trust responsible for the school, including the use of legal deterrents and other controls".

Havering has seen a 2,028 increase in the number of school places required from 2018/19 to 2023/4.

Havering Council said it was lobbying the government for more funding to help it meet demand.

Another east London council, Havering, has also overspent by £6m on housing homeless families and is putting its council tax up by 5%.

Council leader Ray Morgon from the Havering Residents Association party says libraries have had to close because of spiralling costs.
