At the local level, the Los Angeles County Mental Health Department offers a crisis helpline that’s staffed 24/7 to connect residents with resources including mental health professionals with specific training and programs designed for LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

Charlotte Hooper, who works for The Cyber Helpline, which supports victims of online abuse, knows first-hand how psychologically damaging cyberstalking can be.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust - which runs the National Stalking Helpline - said cyberstalking among under-16s remained "significantly under-researched" and underfunded, despite its growing relevance and impact.

The 61-year-old died on 25 May and his wife called a 24-hour district nurse helpline to ask for assistance.
