Academy Awards

Prizes given annually in Hollywood by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for excellence in film performance and production. The symbol (see also symbol) of the award is a small statue called an Oscar. The academy's top awards are for best picture, best director, best actor and actress, and best supporting actor and actress.
