Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team were called to help a man who was reported to be unconscious at Grisedale Hause, near Grisedale Tarn in the Lake District.

This included 15 members of the Glencoe team, along with members of the neighbouring Lochaber team and mountain rescuers from Keswick, Langdale Ambleside and Cockermouth who were training in the area.

About 45 schools were closed for Monday in areas including Kendal, Ambleside, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness.

“It really feels like you’re walking through the Alps or some ski resort at the moment,” Harrison Ward said in the Lake District community of Ambleside.
