Google parent company Alphabet and chip maker AMD also got a reprieve, with their stock prices rising 1% on Monday.

It is, however, facing increasing competition from rivals such as AMD and Intel.

Affecting approximately 200,000 Americans annually, AMD is a major cause of blindness in people over 50.

Back then, Nvidia's value came from its competition with rival AMD, in a race to make the best graphics cards.

“The issue is the industry does not like monopolies. Nvidia has a huge market share, but competitors like AMD and Intel are starting to catch up,” he added.
