Apollonius of Rhodes

The account of Orpheus with the Argonauts is told only by Apollonius of Rhodes, a third-century Greek poet.

This is the title of a long poem, very popular in classical days, by the third-century poet Apollonius of Rhodes.

Apollonius of Rhodes told at length the Quest of the Golden Fleece, and in connection with the story a number of other myths.

Also all the novels by Tabucchi, the complete poems of the Persian poet Hafez, “Giovanni’s Room,” by James Baldwin, “In the Light of ������ We Know,” by Zia Haider Rahman, Apollonius of Rhodes, “Panorama,” by H. G. Adler, Custine’s “Lettres de Russie,” “Moscow to the End of the Line,” by Venedikt Erofeev, and last but not least a book I’ve never read cover to cover but was consumed by in my younger days: Richard von Krafft-Ebing’s “Psychopathia Sexualis.”

We discussed our plan of study: I continue with the Locke seized from Mr. Jonathan Gitney’s library; for Latin and for pleasure, the Æneid again; for Greek, Apollonius of Rhodes’s tale of the Argo’s voyage to find the Golden Fleece.
