Ashmolean Museum

The manuscript was found among the papers of Elias Ashmole, founder of Oxford's Ashmolean Museum.

The Sackler Library and galleries and staff posts at the Ashmolean Museum, are being renamed following a review into the ties.

However, the Sackler name will still be retained on the Clarendon Arch and on the Ashmolean Museum's donor board for "the purposes of historical recording" of donations.

Oxford University said that the Sackler name will be kept on the Clarendon Arch, a slate tablet near the entrance of the Bodleian Library, and on the Ashmolean Museum’s donor board that is displayed for “the purposes of historical recording of donations to the university.”

Michael Vickers, professor emeritus of archaeology at Oxford University and a former curator at its Ashmolean Museum, is among those experts who said the sharp, crisp edges of some fragments are evidence of fresh breaks that occurred in modern, not ancient, times.
