In nearby Avebury, which is home to another ancient stone circle, two men wearing cloaks could be seen blowing horns as people gathered to watch the sunrise over the fields.

It includes monuments and sites that can be accessed, ranging from the ancient Avebury henge and stone circles in Wiltshire and the Sutton Hoo burial site in Suffolk to the world's first purpose-built motor racing circuit in Surrey.

The 28-year-old, who is originally from Avebury in Wiltshire, said everything had "gone up a lot in price".

A large stretch of South Fifth Street, off Avebury Boulevard in the city, was cordoned off and forensic teams could be seen in the area, with items of clothing left in the street.
