In the ’50s, it used to be bluebeat, prior to reggae.

West Indian youngsters, marooned in this cultural maelstrom and kicking their heels in inner-city estates, took refuge in their musical roots: ska, bluebeat and rocksteady.

There are so many great songs at the moment, but one getting regular play on the Bluebeat Scene decks is Soulfood Rock by the Magic Touch, a great ska band from Berlin.
