Brienz

In eastern Switzerland, residents of the village of Brienz were evacuated two years ago because the mountainside above them was crumbling.

The fact that so many rounds were dumped in Swiss lakes - Brienz being another of them - has been known about for decades, though people have asked questions about safety more recently.

The people who live in Brienz are very relieved that the village appears to have been saved.

The people of Brienz packed up and left, and the government closed the roads and train line leading to the village.

The government won’t have enough information to decide when the villagers can go back to Brienz until the system is repaired.
