As Republicans in Congress move ahead with a budget plan that will raise prices for ordinary Americans on healthcare, housing, child care, and so many other aspects of daily life, is that really a message that Democrats can afford to ignore?

The president has also proposed a drastic restructuring that would transfer much of the Forest Service’s wildfire personnel to a new department located within the Department of the Interior, according to his 2026 budget plan.

But the agency may never have had to confront a challenge like the one it faces now: a Trump administration budget plan that would cut funding for NASA’s science programs by nearly 50% and its overall spending by about 24%.

Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, who joined the council in December, also defended the budget plan, saying it would help create “a more just, equitable and inclusive Los Angeles.”

The budget plan called for cutting 30,000 workers from the FAA staff.
