The Scottish government said it was spending more than £1bn on NHS capital investment this year and has committed to progressing work on one of the unbuilt NTCS, a replacement for the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced the move last week, saying it will bring 80 new jobs and more than $12 million in capital investment to the state.

A senior Treasury source said "the Labour government has invested an additional £40bn into our public services, including the NHS, and increased capital investment in our roads, rail and housing by more than £100bn".

She said the latest prison-building initiative would be funded by a capital investment of £4.7bn.

Mohandas Pai, a prominent angel investor, told news channel Economic Times Now that there was a dearth of capital investment in deep-tech start-ups from the government and private players.
