In an email statement, Courtney Carranza, director of communications and public affairs for Southern California Division at Albertsons, said: “We respect the rights of workers to engage in collective bargaining and remain committed to negotiating in good faith to reach an agreement that is fair to our employees, good for our customers, and allows our company to remain competitive.”

“Our officers were heavily outnumbered and so the decision was, clear the area rather than make arrests,” said Carranza.

Carranza said the operators of the underground parties were being tracked down along with those who helped publicize the events at the heart of the problem.

“I can assure you we will find those responsible,” said Carranza.

About 100 people from a party broke off and went on a vandalism spree, Carranza said.
