Over the weekend, the boardwalk was unusually quiet, except for a few daring surfers who ignored health warnings and rode waves near the jetty, said Venice resident Scott Culbertson.

Penelope Culbertson, a Portland resident and Brooklyn’s customer of 27 years, said Brooklyn’s is the epitome of a community pharmacy.

“She had a rodent infestation,” explained Scott Culbertson, executive director of the Friends of Ballona Wetlands.

Scott Culbertson runs the Friends of the Ballona Wetlands - the last coastal wetland in the city.

“I was pretty disgusted by the behavior,” Culbertson recounted.
