The cultivated meat industry says that their products should have no effect on the livestock industry – people will always prefer real meat over artificial.

The first product using these cultivated meats for animal consumption went on sale earlier this month.

But industry leaders say they're working on a feat of bioengineering that will put the United States ahead of other countries trying to grow their cultivated meat industries, such as Israel and Singapore.

If cultivated meat and insects are pitched as necessary sacrifices, any gains they make may be temporary at best.

Global investment in the cultivated meat and seafood sector dropped dramatically in 2023 to less than a third of what it was the year before, a report by the Good Food Institute found.
