Dass still blamed Arizona D.C.S. for choosing to remove her daughter and labeling her a bad mother before she ever had the chance to be a parent.

She learned that under another statute, D.C.S. could have opted to cover at least some of the cost of rent, to help keep the family together.

If they followed the rules, they could see their baby three times a week, but they would have to do so in D.C.S.’s Yavapai County office.

Dass says the lawyer advised her that the fastest way to reunite with their daughter was to do whatever D.C.S. said.
