The Trump administration eliminated many internal oversight bodies in Homeland Security, including the DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, which investigated allegations of wrongdoing.

And Miles Taylor, Trump's former Chief of Staff to the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, who later revealed himself as the author of an infamous anonymous New York Times op-ed that claimed people inside the administration were keeping Trump in check, is also the subject of a DHS investigation at the direction of the president.

“The evidence before the Court is that Border Patrol agents under DHS authority engaged in conduct that violated well-established constitutional rights,” she wrote.

"The parents made the decision to take the child with them to Honduras. It is common that parents want to be removed with their children," Tricia McLaughlin, DHS' assistant secretary for public affairs, said in a statement to NPR.

The American Accountability Foundation, a project of the Heritage Foundation, placed Doyle on a “DHS bureaucrat watchlist” that aimed to expose career staff in “league with left-wing open border groups.”
