Italy's Mount Etna has erupted, with large plumes of ash and smoke seen rising from the volcano.

Etna, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes, has been spewing circular, mostly white smoke rings into the skies over Sicily.

Italy's Mount Etna has been putting on a show by blowing near-perfect circles into the Sicilian sky.

These aren't cone-shaped volcanoes like Italy's Mount Etna, for example, where the lava comes out at more or less the same place.

It has been living on Sicily’s Mount Etna for nearly 4,000 years.
