With a background in collage, glassblowing and painting, Pemberton’s large mixed-media works — of a man singing into his toothbrush in the bathroom, a naked woman smoking marijuana in bed, a man devouring a plate of his mother’s food — are both intimate and mundane.

Bring home a souvenir that’s both memorable and functional by taking a glassblowing workshop at The Glass Asylum in Chagrin Falls, about 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland.

Akashi’s work is unlike anything else: a multidisciplinary practice that ranges between glassblowing, casting, candle-making and stone carving, plus her signature hand motif that is usually cast in bronze or crystal.

As someone who did not grow up exposed to art and glassblowing, Mitchell hopes to inspire a new generation of artists by rejuvenating the visual arts after-school program at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee.

Julia Koerner, who specializes in computational design and 3D printing, and Austin Fields, who’s known for her experimental glassblowing techniques, found inspiration in flora and fauna, light, the ocean and California landscapes when they created the Flora Decanter.
