Trade unions welcomed the government's investment, with GMB general secretary Warren Kenny saying Sizewell C would provide "thousands of good, skilled, unionised jobs".

But speaking to the BBC last month, GMB national secretary Andy Prendergast said the "significant social implications" driverless cars and taxis could have - including on unemployment - should also be fully considered.

The 220 job cuts are expected to be made across daytime shows GMB, Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women.
