The play first was conceived when I was in grad school, but I was thinking about it for years before then, without the language for it.

I wrote a total of nine plays in grad school, and the first one was “Exotic Deadly: Or the MSG Play,” with a million characters and sometimes changing locations three times on one page.

Told in an elliptical style with novelistic chapters, the story follows Agnes, a literature grad student turned junior professor at a small liberal arts college who is struggling to move forward from a traumatic event.
