Max, who is now 90 and lives in Hillsboro Beach, Fla., said the backpack is a perfect symbol for his experience of persecution.

The historic Hillsboro Pharmacy and Fountain, founded in 1873 and located at 243 E. Main Street since the 1920s until a 2022 fire, announced last week that it was closing.
