"Almost 20 years ago, the defendant was accused of torturing prisoners in Syria and, today, we are one step closer to holding him accountable for those heinous crimes", the Special Agent in Charge of the HSI Los Angeles Field office, Eddy Wang, said in a statement.

HSI Los Angeles special agents, primarily from the Child Exploitation Investigations Group, will offer the so-called iGuardian trainings, which aim to educate participants about the dangers of online sexual predators and instruct them how to avoid and report abuse.

A joint investigation between the Riverside County Child Exploitation Team and HSI officials led to the arrest of Lario, authorities said, and a search of his home revealed the identity of the alleged 8-year-old victim.

“This investigation is a perfect example to highlight HSI Riverside’s dedication and commitment to ensuring the well-being of children,” HSI Riverside Assistant Special Agent in Charge Christopher Bracken said in a statement.
