The families include those of Brent Alsleben, Dolal Idd,Zachary Shogren,Okwan Sims and Tekle Sundberg, who were killed by police between 2020 and 2023.

The statute of limitations for Idd’s family to file a wrongful death lawsuit expires at the end of next month, said Paul Bosman, an attorney for the families.

The lawsuit also names the families of Dolal Idd, who was killed by Minneapolis police at a gas station Dec. 20, 2020, after they said he fired at them during a gun purchase sting.

Ms Gachewa and an older student, Idd Salim, were arrested and charged with assault and causing grievous bodily harm.

Right now, 77% of Washingtonians with IDD live with parents.
