“Garl had actual knowledge of and facilitated and participated in Dr. Bomba, Sr.’s wrongful conduct by continuing to assign IU’s student athletes to Dr. Bomba, Sr. for physical examinations with knowledge that, when he did so, Dr. Bomba, Sr. would sexually assault those students,” the lawsuit alleges.

The U.S. government's recommended daily amount of vitamin D is 400 international units, or IU, for infants up to 12 months, 600 IU for people ages 1 to 70 and 800 IU for people over 70.

"We can use AI to look at images of the tumors more objectively," said Bakas, the Joshua Edwards Associate Professor in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the director of the Division of Computational Pathology at the IU School of Medicine, as well as a researcher in the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center.

"Artemisinin-based therapies have been quintessential in the fight against malaria for the past 20 years," said Chandy C. John, MD, the Ryan White Professor of Pediatrics at the IU School of Medicine and corresponding author of the study.

Reports of artemisinin resistance first surfaced in Southeast Asia in 2008 before emerging in East Africa, a trend the IU research team unexpectedly observed through their ongoing work in Uganda.
