Kanarese

The Kanarese rivers have a larger body of water and a more regular flow than the streams of the Konkan.

Their language is a corrupt form of Kanarese.

He was, too, a man of fair intelligence and, though we conversed in Kanarese, he told me that he knew some English, which proved that he was a man of a certain degree of education.

I can give no clue to the origin of the word, unless it be connected with the Kanarese LODU, "a stuffed cloth or cushion."
