Kim Johnson, whose “The Color of a Lie” won the award for young-adult literature, said she set her book, about a white-passing Black teen, in 1955 Levittown, Penn., after her first novel was banned in Bucks County, where Levittown is located.

Authorities have said Gordon carjacked a vehicle in Trenton, New Jersey, on March 16 before driving to Levittown in Falls Township, Pennsylvania.

He then drove to a second home in Levittown and killed the mother of his two children, authorities said.

The gunman, identified by the authorities as Andre Gordon, 26, drove a stolen vehicle and killed two people at a residence in Levittown, Pa., said the Falls Township Police, who responded to reports of a shooting around 9 a.m.

According to prosecutors, Justin Mohn fatally shot his father with a pistol he bought the day before and then used a kitchen knife and machete to decapitate Michael Mohn at the Levittown house where they both lived.
