Defeats for third seed Zverev and Italy's Lorenzo Musetti came on a day when French Open champion Coco Gauff became the third top-five seed to lose in the women's draw.

In the men's draw, last year's semi-finalist Lorenzo Musetti of Italy gets going against Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili, while American 10th seed Ben Shelton faces Australian qualifier Alex Bolt.

Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada's head of Corporate Social Responsibility, responded to his letter saying that the sandals were "at an early stage of design", according to Reuters.
