Andy Tobias, who was eight when his father Lt Col John Tobias, 41, was killed, said the "secrecy" raises questions about what really happened.

"The army categorically denies operating any such detention centres," Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zaid told the BBC.

"The police is currently following all possible leads to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators," said Hawks spokesman Lt Col Avele Fumba.

Issuing the order, IDF Arabic spokesman Lt Col Avichay Adraee warned that Israel would "launch a severe strike on any area from which rockets are fired".

Lt Col Hugo Clark, 54 is accused of taking a deactivated explosive through security at Edinburgh Airport on 16 October.
