“Any person could have purchased and/or used Lt. Gov. Robinson’s data to create accounts all over the internet,” Robinson's legal team wrote.

The lawsuit also alleged that CNN was reckless in their decision to share the story, saying they “chose to publish despite knowing or recklessly disregarding that Lt. Gov. Robinson’s data were previously compromised by multiple data breaches.”

All around North Carolina on Thursday, Republicans and Democrats alike had been waiting for what was billed as a bombshell exposé about Republican Lt Gov Mark Robinson.

“Lt. Gov. Robinson is proud of the work his wife has done to help needy children get nutritious meals,” Lonergan said.

“There is no path mathematically for Lt. Gov. Barnes to overcome his 27,374 vote deficit. This race is over.”
