Lucius

Johnny Flynn, known for Netflix's Ripley and films like The Dig, will play Lucius Malfoy with young actor Lox Pratt, star of BBC's Lord of the Flies, as his son Draco - Harry's classmate and nemesis.

With a sword in his hand and vengeance in his heart, Hanno finds his way back to the imperial capital where he wins bloody renown in the Colosseum, reveals that he's actually named Lucius Verus and thus wades into the political intrigues at the apex of a corrupt and violent hierarchy.

This sets Lucius on his path back to Rome, following his wife's murderer intent on vengeance but then finding the goal of greater freedom for Rome more compelling along the way.

Among them, only Lucius truly exists, and it is only through him that the other gladiators suddenly realize they can reclaim their agency and promptly entrust it to the man who would lead them.

Although Macrinus is painted as an antagonist in the film, his very presence speaks to the long and arduous road that achieving freedom must take – not the more compressed ephiphany that Lucius has after becoming a gladiator.
