Montebello resident Rosa Maria Juarez, 96, doesn’t like what’s happening to the country, and in these tumultuous times, she has a strategy for getting through each day.

“I grew up in Montebello in a house where it was hard to relax because it was full of stuff. Having this space makes me feel overjoyed. Our apartment is a beautiful way to recharge our batteries every night.”

The family of three drove in from Montebello to see their favorite artist headlining the inaugural show at Pomona’s new venue.

However, a city like Montebello — roughly 10 miles away from the burned area of the Eaton fire — is not considered close.

The train was traveling between the Industry and Montebello/Commerce stations, according to Metrolink.
