There are scenes whose dialogue, with a little adjustment, could have served Irene Dunne and Cary Grant, or Carole Lombard and John Barrymore; it’s the world as once scripted by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur or Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder, if not quite to that level, and the combination of theatrical speech and location shooting — in and around New York’s Lincoln Center and the Palais Garnier and Salle Favart in Paris — makes for something interesting.

It spans multiple interconnected rooms, including an ornate, columned dance space based in part on a rehearsal room in the real-life Palais Garnier, home to Paris Opera Ballet.

In Paris, the series shot in the Palais Garnier, including inside the costume studio, where tutus famously hang from the ceiling, as well as Théâtre du Châtelet and Opéra Comique.

In November, Jarmusch added curator to his multihyphenate list of talents: To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Surrealism, he selected 34 images from the Grand Palais’ collection to highlight at Paris Photo, one of the most renowned photography art fairs in the world.

On Monday, against the sumptuous backdrop of the city's 125-year-old Grand Palais, representatives from 80 countries including world leaders, tech bosses, academics and other experts, will gather for a two-day global summit to discuss current progress, and future goals, for the rapidly-evolving, hugely-disruptive technology that is artificial intelligence.
