A massive power cut has caused widespread disruption in parts of Spain and Portugal, with airports, trains and petrol stations impacted.

Queues formed at cash machines as card payments were affected by the outage, and there were reports that some petrol stations are closed.

"We are worried about food, water, cash and petrol in case this goes on for a couple of days," said Lesley, a Brit who has been living in Spain for 11 years.

One of the eldest residents of an old people's home in Londonderry has described the petrol bomb attacks on police just outside the home on Monday as "very distressing".

Last year, petrol bombers attacked journalists and set a number of vehicles on fire.
