Stray dogs are a big problem for Russia's republic of Buryatia and authorities there controversially made a recent decision to put them down.

Vladimir Maraktaev, a 23-year-old university student from the Republic of Buryatia in Siberia, received his draft notice on Sept. 24 and left home that day without his fiancee.

Bair Tsyrenov, deputy chairman of the government of the Republic of Buryatia, said of the fallen soldiers.

Only one Russian region — the Siberian republic of Buryatia — has since had two local lockdowns, with the latest one in effect since Sunday.

The only exception has been the Siberian republic of Buryatia, where last week the region’s governor ordered cafes, restaurants, bars, malls, cinemas, beauty parlors and saunas to shut down for two weeks.
