Business groups point out that two hotels have closed in the past year — Four Points by Sheraton next to LAX and Mama Shelter in Hollywood, for a loss of 270 jobs.

The complaint, reviewed by The Times, centers on an alleged incident that occurred Aug. 9, 2024 at a Sheraton Hotel in San Diego where Renderos was working as a front-desk agent.

In his room at the Sheraton, texts from family, friends and constituents were pouring in.

Video of the incident late on Tuesday night in the Sheraton hotel lobby in Batumi was unclear, although Gakharia could be seen being forced to the floor by a group of men.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, after nearly 21 hours of nonstop, adrenaline-fueled broadcasting, Mason and his ABC colleague Don Ohlmeyer returned to the Sheraton Munich hotel, where they were staying in adjoining rooms.
