Separately, the governor of the region of Smolensk, Vasily Anokhin, said on Telegram that a "massive" drone attack against "civilian infrastructure" had occurred in his region, although no casualties were immediately reported.

He previously accused President Vladimir Putin of going “mad with power” in a series of letters from the prison in the western Smolensk region where he was being held.

The Smolensk and Kursk governors reported one facility damaged in each region.

Ukrainian drones, meanwhile, targeted Russian infrastructure, setting ablaze two energy facilities in the western Smolensk region.

Ukraine's intelligence service said its drones hit two facilities in the Smolensk region, both owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft.
