Marian said her 34-year-old brother-in-law Soliman was killed as he shielded his son from a collapsing wall.

Major importer Egypt has various supply sources for wheat, but few alternatives to Ukraine for corn and vegetable oil, Hesham Soliman, president of Egyptian merchant Mediterranean Star, said.

"Every Eid we used to buy a sacrifice sheep, but this Eid the situation is quite difficult because of war and because most of us did not get paid. We cannot pay for sacrifice sheep due to the high prices," said Mohammed Abboud Soliman, a cattle trader from West Kordofan state.

The show, whose curator, Daniel Soliman, is half-Egyptian, appended a statement to the exhibit’s description online in response to the “commotion” on social media.

But that mattered little after word of Dr. Soliman’s exhibit spread.
