When the Sparks acquired Kelsey Plum, they signaled they were ready to leave last season behind, and at the start of training camp, their newest superstar is making that clear.

On Monday, Barker became the first of three draft picks in the new chapter of Sparks basketball under coach Lynne Roberts.

The US actress was best known for playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer's younger sister Dawn Summers, and later took on the role of manipulative socialite Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl as an adult.

That shifts the focus to the backcourt, where the Sparks likely will aim to find a guard to pair with Plum.

And some of the supporting performances are simplistic, with Sparks’ Steve unbelievably hapless as a spiritual guide and Skarsgård’s Ron a cartoonish imagining of blind religious devotion.
