Seven people have died in a helicopter crash in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, officials have said.

"We have long dry spells and then a heavy downpour, unlike in the past. So with infrequent rain the haze persists for much longer," said Malika Virdi, who heads a community-run tourism business in the state of Uttarakhand.

Nasir Khuehami, head of the Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association, shared a video of a right-wing Hindu group threatening to physically assault Kashmiri Muslim students in the northern state of Uttarakhand to ensure they leave.

Uttarakhand state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has thanked rescue teams for their efforts in challenging conditions.
