Summer is peak season at Yosemite, and many of the park’s campgrounds will be opening within the next few weeks.

Yosemite National Park was supposed to open its coveted High Sierra Camps this year for the first time since 2018.

“We’re thrilled to welcome everyone over Memorial Day Weekend as we honor the memory of nation’s fallen service members,” read a statement from Yosemite’s acting superintendent, Ray McPadden.

The letter from Yosemite Postmaster Fred C. Alexander, dated June 29, 1926, was meant to set the record straight regarding a shipment of 50 pounds of frankfurters from San Francisco.

One study published in Science earlier this month found that with 44,000 deep-sea dives, just 0.001% of the deep seafloor has been visually observed — which is roughly the size of Yosemite National Park.
